Meet the Sensitive Skin Team

This site is led and medically reviewed by Yongbo Jia, MD, who heads the dermatology service at Chongqing West District Hospital and who is responsible for the medical content. The other three physicians contribute what an assessment of reactive skin sometimes needs: the center’s standards and its handling of cases that sit inside a wider medical picture, the surgical perspective on what an operation cannot fix, and the assessment of whether a device is genuinely reasonable or merely available.

Yongbo Jia (贾勇波)

Deputy Director & Head of Dermatology · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending · Lead Physician of This Site

Barrier and eczematous skin disease · rosacea and facial redness · contact allergy and the assessment of skin that reacts to everything

Dr. Yongbo Jia is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and head of its dermatology service at Chongqing West District Hospital, and he is the physician responsible for this site. A vice chief physician and licensed aesthetic attending, he graduated from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and trained in dermatology at the Institute of Dermatology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and at Chongqing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

On this site his part is the split that decides everything else: whether the reactivity is a barrier left less able to hold, a dermatosis such as rosacea or eczema, a delayed contact allergy, or a nerve sensitivity with nothing visible on the skin. He reads the distribution and the timeline before the surface, asks what is being applied rather than what has been bought, arranges patch testing when the history suggests an allergy and not as a routine, and treats a routine that has been shortened and is working as a result rather than as an unfinished job. He says plainly when the next step is to stop something, including when a patient has arrived expecting a device.

Clinical focus

  • Barrier assessment: telling irritant reactivity from eczema and from rosacea
  • The distribution and timeline of a facial rash, and what each suggests
  • Contact allergy: when patch testing is justified, and what it can and cannot exclude
  • Sensory reactivity, and why escalating treatment does not help it
  • Simplifying a routine that has been made worse by adding to it

Academic roles & achievements

  • Member, Jiusan Society
  • Member, Chongqing Integrative Medicine Skin & Beauty Committee
  • Advanced training at the Institute of Dermatology (Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences) and Chongqing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Subtraction is the first treatment

For the commonest kind of reactive skin the answer is to take things away — the exfoliant, the foaming cleanser, the fragrance — one group at a time, and to leave a short routine in place long enough to judge it. That is a real treatment rather than advice to do nothing, and it works far more often than the rungs above it are used. The step that is usually missing is not a product; it is the removal of one.

Shaoliang Wang

Shaoliang Wang (王韶亮)

Director, Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center · Vice Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine

Center leadership · surgical standards and complex cases

Dr. Shaoliang Wang is Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team he provides the surgical perspective and the tertiary-hospital backstop — the assessment when an operation is the honest answer, and the hospital-level care for the rare complication that needs it.

Within this site his part is the standard behind any plan and the backstop for the rare case in which a facial skin problem is the visible end of something wider. Patients whose reactivity turns out to sit inside a larger medical picture are assessed within his part of the service rather than managed on a skincare shelf.

Clinical focus

  • Center leadership and multidisciplinary case review
  • Surgical assessment when an operation is the honest answer to descent or excess skin
  • Hospital-based care for the rare complication that needs theatre-level management
Tongchun Mao

Tongchun Mao (毛彤春)

Deputy Director & Head of Aesthetic Surgery · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Aesthetic surgery · what an operation cannot change

Dr. Tongchun Mao is an aesthetic surgeon within the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team his role is refinement and honest referral: he is the person who says so when an operation will do better than an injectable or a device.

Within this site his part is the honest boundary. Reactive skin is not an operation, and he is the person who says so when a patient arrives asking for surgery to correct skin that needs a diagnosis and a shorter routine instead.

Clinical focus

  • Aesthetic surgical assessment and refinement of contour and asymmetry
  • Honest referral when surgery outperforms a course of injections
  • Shared case planning within the four-physician team
Ke He

Ke He (何锞)

Deputy Director & Head of Skin & Laser Aesthetics · Attending Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Skin and laser aesthetics · the surface of the skin

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director and head of skin and laser aesthetics within the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team her role is the device and injectable assessment, and the honest referral when a problem needs an operation rather than a needle.

Within this site her part is the small group in whom a device genuinely helps: persistent fixed redness or visible vessels in skin whose barrier has already been stable for weeks, and the aftercare that keeps a treated surface from reacting afterwards. She is also the person who postpones a device when the barrier is not ready for it.

Clinical focus

  • Device and injectable assessment before any treatment plan
  • Staged planning judged against standardised photographs
  • Honest referral when a problem needs an operation rather than a needle

Start with the cause, not another product

Arrange a dermatological assessment. We will take the history that separates a stripped barrier from rosacea, eczema and contact allergy, arrange patch testing only where it is justified, and explain why the first step is usually a shorter routine rather than a device.
